Meet The Team

As JND's Senior Vice President, Derek is responsible for protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the organization’s information, assets and systems. Derek oversees the development, implementation and monitoring of the company’s Information Security Program, including the policies, standards, procedures and controls required to achieve corporate objectives.

Derek reports directly to JND’s CEO and works closely with the executive management team to identify and manage organizational risk, and to design and deliver strategic cybersecurity initiatives. He frequently collaborates with IT management to ensure systems and infrastructure are deployed in line with the organization’s security control requirements and industry standard best practices. Derek also provides oversight of JND’s Incident Response, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity capabilities, as well as the provisioning of privacy and security awareness and training to JND employees.

Prior to joining JND, Derek was the Assistant Vice President of Information Security for another large legal administration firm and has over 15 years’ experience in the legal claims administration space. He has worked on some of the largest settlements in the industry, frequently collaborating with clients and auditors on a variety of assessments, including FISMA, SOX, HIPAA, PCI-DSS and the AICPA’s SOC II certification. Derek is a contributing author to leading legal publication Law360, with his most recent article,“5 Tips for Protecting Class Member Data in Uncertain Times,” published in 2020.

Derek is a member of the ISACA and ISC² professional organizations and holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM®) certifications.
